Med Trails Network

The Med Trails Network, first network of long-distance hiking trails in the Mediterranean, was born in view of creating a common tool at Euro-Mediterranean Regional level to address the challenges of managing, structuring, promoting and animating long-distance hiking trails. It aims to promote the economic development of rural areas through hiking tourism.

Supported by Agence Française de Développement (AFD), the network brings together a consortium of 5 partners, representing 4 countries on the northern and southern shores of the Mediterranean:
- Jordan: Jordan Trail Association
- Lebanon: Lebanon Mountain Trail Association
- Palestine: Palestinian Heritage Trail Union
- France: AFRAT, Tétraktys
The Med Trails Network aims to unite the Mediterranean's hiking trails around three key ambitions:
- an economic ambition, by supporting income-generating opportunities to empower local rural communities;
- an environmental ambition, by implementing actions to mitigate climate change all along the territories crossed by the trails;
- a tourism ambition, by promoting sustainable tourism and flagship hiking initiatives around the Mediterranean.
